Brightspace is AU’s shared learning platform. Brightspace will be where you access your courses, communicate with teachers and fellow students and find material and other relevant course-related information.
Please be aware that you are responsible for staying informed about your courses. You can stay informed via email notifications, the Brightspace Pulse App or by checking Brightspace on a regular basis.
Below, you will find a number of technical guidelines for some of the key functions in Brightspace. New information and technical guidelines will be added to the page on an ongoing basis to help you get started with the platform before the new semester.

There is an app for Brightspace that you can use to get a quick overview of your courses and you can receive notifications when something new happens that you have to know.

Some courses are not you will not be enrolled automatically and therefore you can sign up for these courses yourself, these are called Discover courses. These are often courses that are not compulsory. Below you will find a guide on how to find and sign up for a Discover course.

In addition to courses, you are also enrolled in some communities in Brightspace. Communities are collections of people from a faculty, an education or an institute (Arts also has communities for subject areas).

When you watch videos in Brightspace, it happens like on many other platforms. Some videos are recorded in auditoriums, where 3 cameras are used to record, and the content shown in the room is recorded. This guide shows you how to switch between displaying content from the different sources.
