AU STUDYPEDIA – SUPPORTING YOUR STUDENT LIFE

AU Studypedia is your reference for many aspects of student life and it is with you every step of the way, from the start of your first semester until you graduate. You’re bound to face challenges along the way, but Studypedia has advice, guidance and specific techniques to manage your academic, personal and social student life through the themes below:

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

The middle of the semester can feel like a long, tough stretch. You're trying to make sense of the topics, structure the new information, and stay mindful that the exam period is just around the corner. Do yourself a favor and:

1. READ TO UNDERSTAND

Many students feel overwhelmed by the syllabus because they read every single word in every single sentence. However, there are many effective reading techniques for different types of texts that can be adapted to your preferences.

2. FORM STRONG ALLIANCES

Let your fellow students be a resource—for example, by asking them to explain something you don’t understand, dividing texts between you, or discussing something you’re struggling with.

3. WRITE HELPFUL NOTES

Do yourself a favor and take good notes during lectures and from texts – you’ll thank yourself when the exam approaches! Also, make sure to note any gaps in your knowledge as you go, so you remember to review them later.

ARE YOU PROCRASTINATING?

It happens to even the best. In fact, procrastination is completely natural. So don't beat yourself up if you "get caught". Instead, turn your focus around: Set time aside for procrastination to give your brain a break - and try to get away from your screen.

HOW TO USE AU STUDYPEDIA

Aarhus University has approximately 40,000 students - and just as many different types of students. AU Studypedia has no mission to tell you how to study and it offers no miracle cures. Instead, there are examples of some of the many different ways you can approach student life, and ideas about how you can find out what works well for you.

THE GOOD COMMUNITY

At Aarhus University, you can join many communities depending on what you’re looking for. For example, you can become part of a small study group, join associations, or share your student life with the rest of Aarhus University through #yourniversity.

Are you looking for a community?

Maybe you enjoy your own company, or perhaps you feel very alone. If you’re experiencing loneliness, you’re not the only one. In fact, 45% of AU students have felt lonely at some point during their studies, according to the 2021 Study Environment Survey.
