There are a number of formal requirements for the various parts and aspects of university assignments. 

What should be included on the front page? When is it relevant to use notes? How much information should be listed in the bibliography? 

There are a multitude of rules and guidelines for the formal requirements for assignments. Some are clear and unambiguous, others are not, and many of them vary from one degree programme to the other. If you are in doubt, ask someone on your degree programme.
